On Sunday, September 16th through Wednesday September 19th 2018, the ICCA conference will feature commissioned plenary presentations as well as workshop presentations.
You are invited to submit an abstract for a conference workshop. Special consideration will be given to submissions that reflect the conference theme and topics listed below.
Doing What Matters: Innovative Approaches for Creating Safer Communities
Track 1: Smart Justice - Applying solutions focused on the connections of crime to mental health,
addiction, housing, education and social inclusion.
Track 2: Diversion - Whether it is referred to as “Preentry”, “No Entry” or simply Diversion, these
programs involve removing citizens from the traditional criminal justice stream and placing
them in community-based rehabilitation programs, which will help remedy the behavior leading
to the original arrest while avoiding conviction and a criminal record.
Track 3: Restorative Justice - Restorative Justice is a philosophy of justice. It changes the ways we think about justice. What is it? What it required? How it is attained? This track explores how
restorative practices may be applied in the community corrections practice to assist clients in
understanding the harms they have cause, make amends and provide opportunities for them to
repair those harms through behavioral changed and constructive acts.
Workshops are typically 90 minutes in length. The format may be lecture, panel presentation, or interactive. Workshops offering strong elements of both research and practice may opt for conducting two consecutive 90 minute workshops for a total of three hours in length.
Presenters are responsible for their own transportation and accommodation costs but will be offered free conference registration for the day of their presentation.
